------- -About this film Content: Men and women help each other remove pubic hair. Format: The superimposition between the image (here, "the lens when a man shaves a woman's pubic hair-female lower body" and "the lens when a woman shaves a man's pubic hair-male lower body"), black and white effect. analysis: Many times of dissolution in the middle: through the dissolution of images, people can see the effect of superposition of male and female genitals, which means deliberately "blurring" the gender difference so that it looks like a man and a woman. "Neutral". The beginning and the end: the erection and "landing" of the male genitals (without dissolution), which is a subjective perspective as a woman. Because I created as a woman. Photos of paintings inserted midway through: bring some fantasy to this scene and add mystery. No shaving pubic hair shaving lens: objective perspective, video art. The meaning of black and white: reduce the component of pornography (or blur it), increase the aesthetic component. The film has about 20 minutes. At different points in time, the specific meanings expressed are also different; like, from one meaning "gradient" to another meaning. It happens that these twenty-minute images are always "gradient". Therefore, the form and content "gradient" together. I think this is probably what I want to express, that is, the slow sensory enjoyment of a poem, rather than supporting a work with a single concept without imagination.

"Eclipse"- Ivan Maria Friedman

vimeo

ECLIPSE was filmed entirely in "Near infra-red light spectrum". If unfamiliar with this technique, it's a way to filter the light that allows to capture images in wavelengths that are normally invisible to human eyes... which literally give us access to new ways to look at the world. The film was shot over a period of 5 years, essentially by my partner Elena Samuylova who played the only character in the film and myself. When we started we had no specific intentions... we just experimented and shot scenes here and there whenever we had a chance, attracted - hypnotized - by the strange beauty we were beginning to unveil. The shootings happened in caves, ancient Etruscan tombs, abandoned churches, abandoned cities, isolated natural sceneries around Italy, France and Switzerland. While making this film, I’ve started to think of this technique as a sort of magic tool to help me dive deep into my inner world and imagination... till the point where filming became more and more of a very personal, almost obsessive kind of journey...A Journey that found its meaning and conclusion only now that the film is finally complete and ready for the public. Special thanks to: Dimitri Masslenikov, Tristan Pfaff and Denis Fedorov and the Concordia Discors ensemble for the Chopin, Bach other Musical excerpts used in the short. Clark Dunbar who helped me find beautiful footage of the Eclipse...the only non-Infrared shots of the whole piece. My deepest gratitude goes to Terrence Malick, who's immensely fascinating body of work directly inspired the making of this film. A special thank goes to Glen Ryan and James van der Moezel for their pioneer work in Infra-red digital cinematography, they are my first reference when it come to gorgeous Monochromatic Infra-red art. I love their work.
